ReplyDeleteA cool song choice that represents the Time Traveller might be "Hotel California" by The Eagles for the lines below:
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
These lyrices represent how the T.T. was feeling when he was looking for his stolen time machine.
WhenI think of the Time Traveller I think of that song "You and Me" by Lifehouse. The lyrics go "What day is it? And in what month?
ReplyDeleteThis clock never seemed so alive." It reminds me of how confused the Time Traveller must feel when he is in a future age. He has no idea what to expect! The lyrics go on to say "Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do." This reminds me of the Time Traveller and Weena and their sweet relationship. She is his only friend! But I also think of the Eloi and how all they do is play and eat fruit and sleep, so there really is "nothing to do."

My song is "How Far We've Come" by Matchbox Twenty.
ReplyDeleteIt kind of fits - if you stretch it a bit... though, I'm also taking into account the rest of the book, not only what we've read so far in class.
The first bit doesn't fit much, but the chorus does:
"I believe the world is burning to the ground,
Oh well, I guess we're gonna find out.
Let's see how far we've come.
Let's see how far we've come.
Well I believe it's coming to an end,
Oh well, I guess we're gonna pretend.
Let's see how far we've come.
Let's see how far we've come."
Cause he does, technically, see how far humans have come, and he sees that it all burns and goes to crap.
"I think I turned to the clock, but I don't really know,
And I can't remember caring for an hour or so.
Started crying and I couldn't stop myself.
I started running but there's nowhere to run to.
I sat down on the street, took a look at myself,
said 'where you going man you know the world is heading for hell.'
Say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to."
Sort of pertains to when he realises he's lost his time machine. He gets all hysterical and depressed. Starts thinking about being stuck in the future forever and the likes.
Then the bridge might, sort of, possibly relate:
"It's gone, gone, baby, it's all gone.
There's no one on the corner and there's no one at home.
It was cool, cool, it was just all cool.
Now it's over for me and it's over for you."
Just cause it's a bit depressing, and the world is ending, and it's all over, and there's nothing anyone can do. Though, that doesn't correlate with what we've read - more, the last bit.
Dun'no, this was just the first song to pop into mind. But, that might be because I love it despite it being slightly pessimistic. Actually, it makes me laugh, if I'm honest. It's such a fun, upbeat song that's talking about the end of the world. Ironic.
I decided on the song "This is the Future" by Owl City. It reminds me of the T.T. when he ends up in the year eight hundred two thousand and he's not in the future alone but with The Morlocks and Eloi:
ReplyDelete"Wake up on your own
And look around you cuz you’re not alone
Release your high hopes and they’ll survive
Cuz this is the future and you are alive"
I believe that the song "Our Time is Running Out" by Muse would fit well with The Time Machine.
ReplyDelete"I think im drowning asphyxiated, i wanna break the spell that you've created. you're something beautiful a contradiction..." " you will be the death of me" "our time is running out our time is running out, you cant push this underground, you cant stop this screaming out, how did it come to this"
The lyrics remind me of his experience time travelling and meeting the eloi and how much the world has sunk since his time.
-l.m.l.
He travels in time, he has a brilliant mind
ReplyDeleteHes the time traveler, the time traveler
He eats mu-tton, you never know where hes been
Hes the time traveler, the time traveler
He just pulls the lever, and off he goes
He think present time, really blows
HE THE TIME TRAVELER! =D

I think that the song "Waiting on the World to Change" by John Mayer would fit how the time traveller feels after beingin the future for a while. lol. He is waiting on the world to change back to how he knew it before he stated time travelling.
ReplyDelete"I keep on waiting...waiting on the world to change.
Just waiting...waiting on the world to change"
I think that the song "Apocalypse Please" by Muse is a perfect description of how the Time Traveller is feeling when he is in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe lyrics go;
Come on and change, the course of history
And pull us through~
And pull us through~
And this is the end,
This is the end, of the world!
I believe that the song "Starlight" by Muse describes the Time Traveller and Weena just a little bit because he really does care about her. It talks about going far away and not looking back.
ReplyDelete"Starlight"
By: Muse
Far away
This ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
Starlight
I will be chasing the starlight
Until the end of my life
I don't know if it's worth it anymore
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
My life
You electrify my life
Let's conspire to re-ignite
All the souls that would die just to feel alive
But I'll never let you go
If you promised not to fade away
Never fade away
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
Far away
This ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
And I'll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
I just wanted to hold
So, yeah... that's what I think. He is afraid of losing Weena to the Morlocks, also. This can also be described in the song. Perhaps they want to go far away where no one can eat them, kill them, hurt them, whatever. Okay, I'm done.
I picked the song "Life is a Highway" by Rascal Flatts.
ReplyDelete"Life's like a road that you travel on
There's one day here and the next day gone"
I took a different view on it than the rest of you. A more personal one, I guess. I think these lyrics relate to the Time Machine because time is a precious thing. You have more time than anything else and some people dont really live life to the fullest. We dont relize it but time's passing by quickly. I'm already a senior in high school and it passed by so fast that I'm just now realizing its almost over. This reminds me of the Time Machine because I think life would be wasted with the power to fastforward and rewind time because we should just live in the moment.

ReplyDeleteI chose the song "From Atlantis to Interzone" by The Klaxons.
I chose this song because there is a few lyrics that stuck out to me that reminded me of what the time traveller is going through.
"From Atlantis to Interzone
You start at the end and you end on your own.
From Atlantis to Interzone
You start at the edge and you end on the throne."
"You start at the end and you end on your own" makes me think of his journey in the time machine and where he ended up in a world unkown to him on his own.
Then another lyric,
"From Gravity's Rainbow ; the axis here is still unknown
The children's faces glow.
The wasteland guides them : wasteland guides them"
It reminds me of how he is in a totally new world to him,somewhere unknown and how the Eloi are depicted as quite naive and almost chidlike and just,in a way, it seems as if,in the book,they are wasting away doing nothing in this wasteland of a world he's never known.

ReplyDeleteThe song I thought matched the Time Machine is Run This Town by Jay-Z. The song featured Rihanna and Kanye West. It reminded me of the Time Traveler and the whole idea of time travelling.
Here are some of the lyrics that i thought related to the book.
"Fill it coming in the air"
"I'm addicted to the thrill, It's a dangerous love affair."
"Who's gone run this town tonight"
"We are"
The Time Traveller felt strange when he time travelled, but he still was fascinated by it.
Then when the Time Traveller lost his time machine he was determined to get it back so he was getting control of things.

ReplyDeletesong that reminded me is: CRUSH, by: David Archuleta
reason why: It reminds me of when Weena has a crush or likes the TIme Traveler.
lyrics: "Do you think when you are all alone, all that we can be, where this could go. Am I crazy or falling in love, is this really just another crush? Do you catch a breath when I look at you? Are you holding back, like the way you do? Im trying to find a way, but i know this crush aint going away. "

ReplyDeletei chose the song nowhere man by the beatles because in the lyrics it says "he doesnt have a point of view, knows not where hes going to"
which reminds me of the time traveller because he has no idea where hes going to end up and has no idea what the past or future will be like.

ReplyDeleteI choose the song Imma star by GUCCI MANE because the song make absouluterly no sense jus like this book LOL : }

ReplyDeleteI chose the song "Road to Nowhere" by Bullet for My Valentine.
There is a phrase in the song that reads:
"Tired and lonely still we stand
On a road to nowhere
Trapped in a world of endless days,
My engine's stalling
Body and mind are breaking down
On a road to nowhere
Destiny silent, hear no sound
As I wait forever."
~
To me this reminds me of how the time traveller feels while he is in the unknown world. His days are lonely and he feels as if they last forever. He also seems to be going mad and he doesn't know what is going to become of him, if he will ever return home, or ever see his friends and family again.
i chose the song 'take me away' by tyrese gibson because the song reminds me of how the time traveler wants to get out of the future and how he feels lost.
ReplyDelete1) Ender is a very strong person. He is able to deal with the trauma of being torn from his family not to mention planet and taken to a desolate friendless place where he is pushed and tested beyond what anyone else could possibly be expected to do.
ReplyDelete2) An appropriate song for Ender would be Spaceman by The Killers.
"It started with a low light,
Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed;
And then they took my blood type,
they left a strange impression in my head.
You know that I was hoping,
That I could leave this star-crossed world behind;
But when they cut me open,
I guess I changed my mind.
And you know I might
Have just flown too far from the floor this time,
'cause they calling me by my name!
And the zipping white light beams
disregarding bombs and satellites!
That was the turning point;
That was one lonely night!
Well now I'm back at home and-
I’m looking forward to this life I live;
You know it's gonna haunt me,
So hesitation to this life I give.
You think you might cross over,
You caught between the devil and the deep blue sea;
You better look it over,
Before you make that leap!
And you know I'm fine, but I hear those voices at night
sometimes... they justify my claim,
and the public don’t dwell on my transmission
'cause it wasn’t televised...
But, it was a turning point,
Oh what a lonely night!
My global position systems are vocally addressed;
They say the Nile used to run from east to west,
They say the Nile used to run… from east to west.
I'm fine,
but I hear those voices at night,
sometime...
The star maker says, "It ain't so bad"
The dream maker's gonna make you mad;
The spaceman says, "Everybody look down!
Its all in your mind!"
The star maker says, "It ain't so bad"
The dream maker's gonna make you mad;
The spaceman says, "Everybody look down...
Its all in your mind!"
